Head Coach - Terry Rife

I am a graduate of Oregon State University with a degree in Physical Education and from Pacific University with a Masters in Teaching.  I teach PE and Health at Southridge High School.  I am married to Bruce and we have three children and a dog.

This is my fifth year coaching at Southridge, my fourth year as a level 1 head coach.  I choose to coach here because of the athletes, my great coaching staff and this awesome community.  Each day there are challenges and for each challenge there are amazing breakthrough performances. I feel very privileged to be a part of a growing program with passionate coaches and committed student athletes.   GO HAWKS!

Head Coach - Bruce Rife

Head Sprint, Hurdle & Relay Coach

Bruce is a level 1 USATF certified coach that has been coaching track for 10 years. Bruce is the head coach for Beaverton Track Club and has coached track athletes to the National level every year.

Bruce has a BS in physical education from Oregon State University and works as a coordinator for Providence St. Vincent Health and Fitness Center. He has developed his own program called Speed Works to help train athletes in speed, agility, strength and power. He has coached and trained athletes for 20+ years.

Assistant Coach - Michael Christiansen

Distance Running Coach

Coach Christiansen returns for his third track and field season at Southridge and will be coaching our distance runners. As a Level 2 USATF certified coach, Michael brings several years of experience to our team from coaching youth distance runners for the Beaverton Track Club (BTC). In the fall, Michael is the head coach for the BTC cross country running program.

Assistant Coach - Rebecca Eisenberg

Pole Vault Coach

Rebecca has been teaching and coaching pole vault at Southridge for five years.  She has trained with Rick Bagget at Williamette Striders Track Club (WSTC) and has attended the PEMCO conference in Seattle.  Her family includes her fiance Cooper and her two cats Tiny and Boo.

Assistant Coach - Wes Powers

High Jump Coach

Assistant Coach - Mark Trout

Throws Coach

Mark has been coaching high school sports for 22 years. This is his 17th year coaching track, and his 9th year as the throws coach for Southridge High School.

Mark has a BS in Liberal Arts and a Masters in Special Education. He teaches Special Education at Southridge. Mark is married to Lani, and they have two sons - Tony and Marco.

Assistant Coach - Andrew Van Fleet

Long Jump & Triple Jump Coach

Andrew Van Fleet coached the Southridge horizontal jumpers for the past three years. This is his 6th year as a teacher and coach for the Skyhawks and he loves both teaching and coaching with a passion.   Though his squad is young, he expects the returning varsity jumpers to compete for top spots in metro and be in position to score points at state!  When he isn’t playing games with his 2 year old daughter, he can be found grading essays on bus trips or building sand castles in the long jump pits.

Motto:  Jump far and run fast, no wait, run fast then jump far.

Looking ahead:

5/22-5/24 State HS track meet. (Univ. of Oregon)

5/27 End of Season Banquet
